I've been meaning to jot down a few funny things the kids have said in the last few months.
1. We pull up somewhere (I don't remember where) and the kids get out of the car. Drew points at a truck and says, "What the Hell!" We all try not to laugh and then Bret says, "I think he gets that from Dad." I think he's right.
2. We are out in the backyard and Laci hears the ice cream truck driving through our neighborhood. She turns to me all excited and says, "ice teem tut, ice teem tut!" She then immediately follows that up with, "money, money!" She has obviously been around her brothers way too much. Nick is in trouble...she's already asking for money.
3. Back in May, Cole was at a friend's birthday party. About five other kids and Cole are sitting around a table, eating their cake. They begin asking each other how old they are. One says, "I'm six." Another says, "I'm seven." And, as kids are, they keep trying to out do each other about being older because being older is somehow so much better than being younger (if only that still held true as adults). Cole says, "My cousin is 13." Someone else says, "My cousin is in College." Another says, "I have a cousin who is 30!" Cole, quickly ended the converstation by adding, in his serious, raspy voice, "Oh yeah, well my great-grandpa is DEAD!" It was pretty funny. I don't think any other adults heard this conversation. I just sat there and chuckled to myself.

Intrepid Museum
In August we went to NYC for the day to the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum. The Intrepid is an old aircraft carrier that has been stationed on the Hudson and transformed into a museum. The kids loved it, especially Bret and Cole, who are obsessed with anything military. There is also an old submarine, the Growler, which we toured.
Football
Bret and Cole have both started football. Bret is playing tackle and Cole is playing flag. Practices take up a lot of time, but I think they are having fun. It is a good change from baseball. I don't have a picture of Bret yet, but he looks like a man in his full pads and helmet.
Drew's 1st Day of School
Drew started school this week. He is going to the preschool at St. George's Episcopal church. He has a couple of good friends in his class and has enjoyed it so far.
